Family Medicine Inpatient Service (FMIS)
Chief of Service & Director of Inpatient Clinical Education
The family medicine inpatient experience at Columbia-NYP is often filled with a myriad of emotions. Our service exists within an urban underserved environment that is comprised of individuals with several comorbidities that interplay with complex social determinants of health amidst several structural determinants as well. The hours are often long and sometimes the healing process is hard to see. Despite these realities, the experience also includes a system of continuous support as well as training that will garner the confidence to treat patients who are acutely ill. Regardless of their chosen career paths post-residency, graduates leaving the program routinely cite FMIS as one of the top 3 highlights of the program. Our promise to you is to ensure excellent training and quality of education that you can utilize in whatever form of patient care you choose to pursue when you complete your residency.
