Reproductive Health Concentration

Goals and Objectives 

Goal: To gain experience with reproductive health care.

Patient Care: Gain competency in pregnancy options counseling, medication and procedural abortion, LARC placement and removal, complex contraception, sexually transmitted infections, and other areas of patient care related to reproductive health.

Medical Knowledge: Have the medical knowledge to provide care to patients with a wide spectrum of reproductive health issues

Practice-based learning and improvement: Be familiar with the current literature related to reproductive health care, including abortion and contraception. Develop systems to remain current on the latest literature in reproductive health.

Interpersonal and communication skills: Develop advanced patient counseling skills in the area of reproductive health. Demonstrate trauma informed care principles during patient care. Work with the interdisciplinary team to provide patient care to people with reproductive health issues.

System based practice - Engage in advocacy related to reproductive health on the practice, community, state, or national level. Be aware of patient safety issues related to reproductive health. 

Professionalism - Improve ability to care for and serve vulnerable patient populations with empathy and nonjudgement.
